Just recently I was privy to a conversation with Nutritionist and Dietician Dorothy Graham-Charles about how you can boost your immunity to diseases like COVID-19 by eating the right foods.
Ms. Graham-Charles advised that foods from the citrus group i.e. oranges, tangerines, lemons and limes are immunity boosters. These foods are rich in vitamin C which play a vital role in fighting against infections.
Citrus fruits can be used in salad dressing, fruit medleys, smoothies and juices. Adding turmeric and ginger to your smoothies and juices can add a powerful immunity boost as well!
Yet again, we are reminded of how important our diet is in protecting us from diseases and keeping us healthy. So remember to add items from the citrus group to your shopping list this weekend!
Along with citrus fruits Ms. Graham Charles advised that the more colorful your plate is, the more nutritional benefit is derived. So stock up on colorful vegetables like spinach, tomatoes, carrots, pumpkin, yellow squash etc.
Fruits and vegetables are a very important part of your diet and should make up half of your plate! so fill up on fruit and vegetables and give your immune system the boost it needs to protect you from COVID-19 and other viruses.
