It is common knowledge that living a healthy lifestyle has positive benefits – good health being the primary one! but other benefits include a youthful appearance, high energy levels, enhanced cognitive skills and longevity.
You would think that with all of the above benefits, everyone would eagerly embrace a healthy lifestyle! Unfortunately unhealthy diets, coupled with unhealthy habits like smoking, excessive alcohol intake etc. is the norm for some people.
Small Changes you can make
A lifestyle change is always difficult but Rome wasn’t built in a day! Some have the misguided idea that living a healthy lifestyle means giving up the foods they enjoy but in reality there is no need to do that . Here are a few small changes you can make.
- Replace soda with lemon water
- Avoid adding sugar to your beverages
- Snack on fruit and nuts instead of chips
- Add more vegetables to your plate and less potatoes, rice or pasta
- Go for a walk at least once per week
- Add ‘pamper myself” to your to-do list
- Sign up for a dance class
- Read ‘feel good’ books
- Practice gratitude and meditate
